TAMU-CC Faculty Member, Filmmaker Collaborate with Students, Faculty on Award-Winning WWII Films
A pair of related films – a docudrama titled “The Airmen and The Baroness” and a documentary film titled “American POWs in Croatia: 1941-1945” – written by Dr. Dorothy McClellan, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Regents professor of Criminal Justice, and directed by Nikola Knez, won four awards at the 54th annual World Fest International Film Festival. The docudrama also features contributions by Island University students and faculty members.

Islander Nursing Students Participate in 2021 Innovative Readiness Training Caring for Rural and Underserved Communities
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CONHS) participated in a weeklong Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) led by the U.S. Department of Defense. The training, which ran June 14-24, allowed Islander nursing students and faculty to assist in providing resources for medical, dental, and optical care to rural and underserved communities.

Dr. Hassan Aziz, CONHS Dean, Named American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science President
Dr. Hassan Aziz, Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, was installed on July 1, as the 2021-2022 President of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) during the Society’s Annual Meeting held June 27 – July 1 in Louisville, KY. The ASCLS’s mission is to make a positive impact in health care through leadership that will assure excellence in the practice of laboratory medicine.

Congrats Summer 2021 Grads! Island University to Host Commencement on Saturday, Aug. 7
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will hold its summer 2021 commencement ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 7, at the American Bank Center. The 10 a.m. ceremony will celebrate 706 graduates from the university’s five academic colleges.
